The Executive Officer (XO) is the second-in-command, reporting to it's commanding officer (CO). An Executive officer is assigned to his/her Company Commander, Division Commander, to members of the Command staff or to Staff Departments and Division Departments heads.
Role
The Executive Officer is tasked with helping out in any way necessary for the commanding officer he is assign to. He will take actions and make decisions in the absence of the commanding officer, thus serving the functions associated with his commanding officer when called upon.
Responsibilities
The executive officer is responsible of the following duties;
- Assist in all duties bestowed on his assigned commanding officer.
- Transmitting various reports to the commanding officer he is assigned to.
- Perform any duties ordered by his commanding officer.
- Perform administrative duties and paper work associated with his commanding officer.
- Substitute to the commanding officer he is assigned to in the absence of thee.
- Serve and act as a commanding officer when the situation calls for it.
