A Platoon Leader is the commissioned officer in charge of a platoon, His/Her direct superior is the Company Executive Officer. This person is usually a junior officer — a Second Lieutenant or First Lieutenant, or an equivalent rank. He/Her is usually assisted by one (1) or more Platoon Sergeant(s).
Role
The Platoon Leader leads the platoons under his command. He is also the point of contact to the Platoon Sergeants under his command.
Responsibilities
The platoon leader is responsible of the following duties;
- Reviewing platoon reports from platoon under his command.
- Transmitting various reports to the Company Commander.
- Relay information transmitted to him from the chain of command to the personnel under his command.
- Perform administrative duties and paper work associated with his platoon. (ex: NCS, commendation)
