These are the current guidelines issued 07/26/2013 to form a check list from: The Guidelines set within the RTRWIKI for each rank should be followed. Please refer to the MILPACS for OIC's,CO's and Post holders.


E-1 TO E-5

  • Requirements set within the RTRWIKI for each Grade
  • Approved by Company First Sergeant
  • Can be Approved by a Sr. Post holder WITHIN the Chain of command ( ie Division Sergeant Major, Command Sergeant Major, Platoon Leader, Company Command,Division Staff)

E-6 TO E-8 ( MASTER SERGEANT ONLY)

  • Requirements set within the RTRWIKI for each Grade
  • Approved by the Division Sergeant Major
  • Can be Approved by a Sr. Post holder WITHIN the Chain of command ( ie Command Sergeant Major, Platoon Leader, Company Command)

E-8 TO E-9*

  • Requirements set within the RTRWIKI for each Grade
  • Sergeant Major of the Army
  • E-9* Promotions require a unanimous vote of ALL active duty Sergeant Majors

O-1 to 0-2

  • Requirements set within the RTRWIKI for each Grade
  • Approved by the Sergeant Major of the Army

O-3

  • Requirements set within the RTRWIKI for each Grade
  • Nomination by the Sergeant Major of the Army
  • Nomination by the acting Division Leader
  • Approved by the acting Commanding General of the Division

O-4

  • Requirements set within the RTRWIKI for each Grade
  • Nomination by the acting Commanding General of the Division or Division Command
  • Unanimous vote of the Joint Chief of Staff

O-5 and UP

  • Requirements set within the RTRWIKI for each Grade
  • Must be approved by the Joint Chiefs of Staff
