a Platoon Leader or Platoon Commander is the commissioned officer in charge of all platoons in his company. His direct superior is the Company Commander. This person is usually a junior officer — a Second Lieutenant or First Lieutenant, or an equivalent rank. He is usually assisted by one (1) or more Platoon Sergeant(s).

Role

The Platoon commander leads the platoons under his command. He is also the point of contact to the Platoon Sergeants under his command.
